A Woman’s Place

Book, invitation and poster. Exhibition designed in collaboration with Sheila Bull Architects

The book, published by Penguin, was edited by Diana Souhami.

The exhibition, to show the role of women in Britain, opened in London’s Festival Hall before it travelled abroad. Square images mounted in an aluminium display system were arranged to provide enclosures for three “rooms” – one a kitchen, one a bedroom, and one for a student. The contents had to fit into packing cases designed by the architects. Some packing cases were in fact made up of the furniture of the “rooms”.

The images varied from popular women performers, athletes, to the history of feminism and women’s everyday work.
